History and Purpose
Development
The Portrait and Figure Painters Society of SW Florida, Inc. also known as 'PFPS' was created around October 2007 by President and Founder Renate M Reuter of Ft. Myers to dedicate and to contribute our communities at large through educational programs and studies for students, aspiring and professional fine artists, our communities, the general public, and all economic groups. We try to build bridges between communities, generations, and nationalities. Renate M Reuter has been living in Fort Myers since 2002 where she attended many arts leagues/organizations and visited great many art galleries in various towns - Lee, Collier, Port Charlotte, etc. and took many art classes and workshops. Renate experienced and felt that there was a tremendous lack of classes for portrait and figures including for the SW Florida area. There was a positive need for that; therefore, she created the Portrait and Figure Painters Society of SW Florida Inc, which was, officially documented with the State of Florida and the IRS and official since October 31, 2007. It obtained its 501c3 Status early 2009.
